Supporting Students & Learning

About UniFund SA

Who we are, what we stand for, and how support works for verified students.

Section 01

Who We Are

UniFund SA helps real students with real financial challenges, while creating a trusted student environment where they can also find useful resources, guidance, services, opportunities and a supportive community.

Section 02

Mission

UniFund SA exists to:

Section 03

Vision

To build a trusted student ecosystem where verified students can access meaningful support, opportunities and services that contribute to their success and overall student journey.

Section 04

Student Dignity Principle

UniFund SA aims to create a safe and supportive environment where students can seek and receive assistance without being judged, labelled or viewed negatively because they need financial support.

Section 05

Why We Exist

Students can face short-term financial challenges that affect their studies and everyday student life, often without easy access to support, guidance, or trustworthy services built around their needs. UniFund SA was created to close that gap — offering short-term assistance alongside a trusted, student-focused community.

Section 06

Financial Assistance

UniFund SA provides short-term, repayable financial assistance to verified university and college students who experience temporary financial challenges. The purpose is to help students manage immediate and necessary expenses without negatively affecting their student journey.

What It May Support

Processing Fee

UniFund SA charges an applicable processing fee on each advance. The exact fee amount is confirmed to the student, in line with applicable requirements, before the advance is provided.

Repayment

Assistance is repayable according to agreed terms, generally around month-end when the student receives expected funds such as an allowance or parental support. Repayment allows UniFund SA to assist other verified students over time. If a student does not qualify, the request is rejected and no repayment is required, since no assistance was provided.

Our principle: financial assistance is designed to be short-term, repayable, student-focused, responsible, secure, and based on verification and agreed requirements.

Section 07

Student Support & Community

UniFund SA provides students with support and guidance beyond financial assistance by helping them find, access, and connect with relevant resources, services, opportunities, and support networks.

Purpose: the goal is to ensure that students are not left to figure everything out on their own. UniFund SA acts as a bridge to the right information, people, resources, services and opportunities while keeping students at the centre.

Section 08

Verification & Trust

UniFund SA verifies students and businesses to make sure that everyone in the community is genuine and legitimate.

Student Verification

A student may be verified using appropriate information such as:

Once a student has been verified, UniFund SA can provide access to relevant services and, where approved, financial assistance.

Business Verification

Businesses must also be verified before they're allowed to participate in the UniFund SA ecosystem or engage with students. This helps protect students from fraudulent, misleading, or inappropriate businesses. Suspicious or inappropriate activity is taken seriously and, where appropriate, reported to the relevant authority.

Our principle: the goal is a trusted environment where students can safely access UniFund SA services, legitimate businesses can engage with students, and suspicious activity can be identified and addressed.

Section 09

How a Student Uses UniFund SA

UniFund SA follows a simple student journey:

Apply → Verify → Request/Review → Approval or Rejection → Agreement → Assistance → Repayment → Continued Access

If a student does not qualify, the journey follows a shorter path:

Request → Review → Rejected

Step 1 — Apply & Verify

Students complete the UniFund SA membership and account application form, along with supporting documents to confirm student status and residence — such as a student card or ID, and proof of residence. Documents should be valid, clear, and belong to the applicant.

Step 2 — Track Your Request

Students can monitor their request through the UniFund SA dashboard — current status, outstanding balance, payments made, processing fees, repayment information, and important messages.

Step 3 — Approval or Rejection

UniFund SA reviews the application and supporting information. The request status changes from Pending to Approved if the student meets the relevant requirements, or to Rejected if not. Before assistance is provided, the student confirms their agreement to the processing fee, repayment date, and applicable terms.

Step 4 — Stay on Top of Repayment

Students receive reminders about upcoming due dates, outstanding balances, and repayment requirements. Once an advance is repaid, the student keeps continued access to UniFund SA support, resources, and opportunities.

Working With Businesses & Partners

UniFund SA connects students with legitimate businesses, sponsors, organisations, and service providers that can create genuine value for students — offering student benefits and discounts, useful services, and relevant opportunities. All businesses are verified before they can engage with students, through channels such as WhatsApp and the UniFund SA platform.

Students + UniFund SA + Partners

The purpose isn't simply to connect businesses with students, but to build useful, trusted relationships that benefit the wider student community.
